Photos from Friday night in my favorite sweater that there was no question I was going to bring to New York with me. It's oversized to the point of being ridiculous but I wouldn't have it any other way. Had a pretty smooth flight over here and am now trying to get things organized in my hotel room.

This week was kind of a milestone. I went up to see my buddies at RVCA in Costa Mesa and try on the prototypes for the couple pieces that I designed for them and they look so damn good..thank you so much to Kristin (sidenote, totally having a go at the "Sydney short") and PM for the opportunity to do this! Seeing my name on hang tags is one of the most surreal experiences I've had and I cannot wait to show you guys the final product.

And the other half of the news is that I signed with Next, which I'm so so excited about..the second I walked in to meet them we just hit it off. Stoked to see what we can do together.

I've always pictured these jeans against the sand for some reason. No shoes required.

Love the athletic look with the gray jersey and slouchy cargo bottoms and the feel that you're getting a glimpse into a character's life.

Working on the store today..shooting some pretty rad stuff.

Well I'm still going through our photos (and video footage) from Paris which are chaotically divided between multiple memory cards but here are some shots from our second to last day there. That morning I ended up running in the rain to get to a photo shoot for Elle France (leave it to Colin to snap that frenzied moment so artistically) with photographer Alex Isard. Thankfully he was as gracious about us getting uhm slightly lost on the way there as he was fun to work with. See me juggling my huge bag and my Macbook that they wanted in the shot rather unskillfully as Alex's assistant looks on.

I found myself wearing multiple pairs of tights to keep warm, this California girl is just as much of a weather wimp as you'd expect. Denim wasn't too helpful either since I seem to have torn gaping holes into most of my jeans. Buuut I'm gearing up for colder conditions again this Sunday when I fly out to NYC for another (secret for now) shoot that I'm really excited about. It seems spring has not yet arrived in New York? I'll be there sans Colin so I'll try to document as best I can...staying till Wednesday but my time isn't really going to be mine, which means I may not be able to get a glimpse of Topshop's long-awaited opening but you never know.

And thank you for the sweet comments on the last post, especially the ones about the hair..I'm inspired to play around with it a bit more now.

You can imagine how excited I was when (the now blog-enabled) Topshop sent me an extremely generous package of goodies this week, including THE boots in spring-fresh white and a couple pieces from Kate Moss' spring collection. I love you Topshop! Can't wait to raid the US store..

A lot of times people will email me about shopping and trends and what I like and why..truth be told, outside of the clarity of buying on the internet, I rarely go shopping with a specific idea of what I want, instead just grabbing whatever appeals in an alarmingly animalistic, instinct-driven way. What I'm trying to say is that in no way was I seeking a leopard print cotton slipdress but I knew I loved it immediately upon sight. It's been a while, spaghetti strap..

It's safe to say that I was absolutely obsessed with this dress a year ago..I wore it so much on the blog that it actually became awkward. But after being immersed in the sea of black that dominated Paris, I seriously became anxious to get home to my closet to find something a little more whimsical.

I finished studding these boots right before we left but the poundage that all the metal added wasn't really gearing up to be suitcase-friendly. Though bringing two pairs of massive Chloe wedges wasn't too ideal either. Anyway, all those buckles were just dying for a little makeover and I'm into how they turned out. Definite contender for favorite spring boot.

I froze temporarily so we could get a couple shots of this dress before having some sushi in Le Marais on Friday night..I sold the exact same one in my store a couple months ago cause it was a little big for me but through some vintage clothing miracle I found the same one in my size a few weeks later. The huge gems and sort of inexplicable pattern are just rad, and it has this deeply scooped back that American Apparel would be proud of.

Some of you may have been wondering what exactly we came out here to Paris for..Esteban Cortazar, the genius behind Emanuel Ungaro, and I have been emailing for a couple months and he invited me to his show, which was obviously something I wasn't going to turn down. It was a dream come true going to his studio for a fitting, especially when he had hand picked a selection of dresses that he thought I would like. It quickly became clear that we were going to get along perfectly - Esteban is as smart and witty as he is sweet. Meeting his team definitely became more surreal when a few people greeted me as the "girl from the mood board". I was floored.

I chose an exquisite asymmetrical minidress from the spring collection with sheer detailing..the draped pleating at the skirt won me over immediately. After watching Maryna Linchuk walk in a killer look from the next day's show and drooling over the strappy shoes lined up in the hallway, the beautiful Romelie packaged up my dress and Colin and I were on our way.

Sunday morning we calmed our nerves a little over pain au chocolat and got ready in a whir of flying accessories. Thank God I didn't have to think of what to wear. We caught a few stares in the Metro for some reason and made it the show to find ourselves in the front row next to our new best friend Jim Goldstein and across from Rachel Zoe. I spotted Anna dello Russo nearby and approached her - she is so so sweet and was even inquisitive about me. We made it back our seats and after caressing Jim's studded jacket a bit, the show began. I probably bruised Colin's shoulder with all the nudging I did every time I saw looks and pieces that I would die to wear. There were cocoon-like draped dresses perfect for a night out, rad scrunched up studded gloves and tights, low-key sexy slouchy trousers, patent leather jackets, chain-bedecked knits (LOVE THE HOODIE), a stunning origami-reminiscent dress that closed the show, bags with the straps ingeniously wrapped around the wrist , and a barely there embelllished vest layered over a jumpsuit that I can imagine layering with everything in my wardrobe. Jaime found us after the show and we went backstage to congratulate Esteban and mingle before accompanying him and his friends and family to a celebratory lunch. Esteban keeps such good company, everyone was so welcoming and once we were seated the laughter and fun didn't stop. What felt like minutes but was actually hours later, we said our goodbyes for the time being to recharge and get ready for the afterparty,

A huge thank you to Esteban and Jaime and all the amazing people we met through them!
